Halloween Lunches

We didn't really go all out with Halloween lunches this year, but I did make the girls little Jack-o-Lantern lunches for Honey's last day of the week.

Miss M had pumpkin scone with FooFoodler detail, passionfruit with yoghurt, sandwich and a Lindt ball and juice in her pimped Juice in the Box.
Honey also had a Jack-o-lantern sandwich and a pumpkin scone. The rest of her lunch consisted of leftovers, yoghurt and watermelon.
Miss M had show & share on Friday and the theme was 'Favourite Food'. She decided cake was her favourite food, so we whipped up a batch to share and I used our trusty Lunch Punch to give her one in her lunchbox too :-)

This was one of my lunches for the week.

Miss M was treated to a trip to the cinema at her holiday care and they went to see Oddball so I made her an Oddball lunch :-)

Yoghurt, sandwich made with Lunch Punch and food picks.
And an apple penguin.

Quickie Sea Lunches

I've felt so rushed since returning to work and have found I'm less & less creative with the girls lunches. Having said that these quickie lunches were fast & fun as well as being relevant to their days with both of them talking about under the sea at their respective 'schools'.

Miss M took an EasyLunchbox with passionfruit yoghurt, strawberries, fishy Vegemite sandwich and under the sea biscuits. Watermelon balls for brain break along with some milk in her Juice in the Box.
This is the layout I've been using for Honey lately. Main in a mini Tupperware (oct-dogs today, still frozen when I took the picture), yoghurt pouch, sandwich and snack with large container of fruit.

This lunch is from a little while ago and I just haven't gotten around to posting it. Again sea themed but with sausages and sauce for lunch alternative.
And I drew a face on the fish ;-)
This was Miss M's the same day. She got Nutella/cashew nut dip fro her apple.

Cute Cucumbers

I found some gorgeous little mini cucumbers at the supermarket the other day and couldn't resist including them in the girls' lunches.

Miss M had her cucumber with mandarin, yoghurt, and a dalmatian-inspired Lunch Punch dog along with some milk.

Honey had some spaghetti, cucumber & cheese, sandwich, juice, mandarin & grape, yoghurt.

Cucumber & cheese
Honey sandwiches.

Froggy Fun Lunch

I love that Honey is into soup! Well, accepting of it anyway. Miss M never did go for it but if you catch her in the right mood Honey will easily demolish a full adult serve. Which is kind of nice considering how little she usually eats. I took advantage of a big batch of Sweet Potato & Pear soup that took her fancy and packed it for her lunch for an extra verge hit.

She also had double fruit today with Gogo Juice in her Juice in the Box and double protein with her 'bunny eggy' and some pepperoni with cheese, not to mention the yoghurt.
I squished her Lunch Punch sandwich a little too hard and his eye popped!Looks like he's winking, right?
Fun froggy pick in some strawberries
And a little FooDoodler stamp on some cheese.

I'm loving her imagination right now and how she 'ribbits' around the bath. *sigh*

A Story to Remember. .

Do you use tricks to help you remember things? I must admit I'm not terribly good at that sort of thing, but I did make up a story to help Miss M remember all the things she did while on school holidays so she could share about them at school.

Meet Sue (name changed to protect the innocent), an cow who likes to play soccer in her ice skates at daycare! That makes sense, right?

Can you see her ice skates?

Miss M's very full holidays included a week at soccer school (food picks), a visit to the farm (cow sandwich), a visit to her friend (aka Sue), a few days in daycare with Honey (artist palette) and a couple of ice skating sessions (skates and food pick)

Also in this lunch is yoghurt, pepperoni, cheese & crackers and some Gogo Juice.

School Excursion Lunch

This was our first major test run of our new Juice in the Box and I was rather excited to see how the Ice on the Box would work, especially here in central Queensland. I must say I was impressed! Although it was a milk winters day (it only reached 26c o.O) the milk which was fridge cold when we left home at 8am was still cold enough to drink safely at midday when we got home. It was suited in the Ice on the Box and stayed with the pram and Honey for Miss M's excursion. Can you guess where we went?

Miss M had an EasyLunchbox marking all the stops on her walking tour of the town centre. The Library, Police Station, and Ambulance Station.

Cheese sandwich 'books'
Fruit 'stop lights'
Vegemite sandwich 'Ambulance'

And of course she had her Juice in the Box  I also packed a yoghurt pouch for her brain break.

Honey's nibble tray consisted of breakfast biscuits, fruit, and a butter sandwich. Yes, she loves a butter sandwich! As well as her Juice in the Box.

Have you entered to WIN a Juice in the Box starter bundle yet? You can read all about it in this previous post!

Cake Stall Bento

Our local Playgroup had a Barefoot in the Park celebration for Under 8s week recently and when they asked for donations to go towards the cake stall I knew I had to spread a little more Loving Lunches love around :-)

The afternoon before the big day I cut made some Vegemite dolphin and some Honey elephant sandwiches. I also assembled some mandarin/grape flowers and made some mini bread & butter puddings from some of the bread offcuts. The sandwiches stayed on the bench overnight while the fruit & pudding were tucked away in the fridge. In the morning it was a simple task of assembling in their disposable containers and popping them in cooler bags while I did the school run.

I had a stall at the Fun Day too and this is the Yumbox I packed for Honey to share with her friend while she had a playdate at the event.

Their favourite wafer biscuits, some muesli bites (recipe soon), cheese stick, bread & butter puddings and cucumber.

The Cow That Laid an Egg Lunch

Every morning at school drop off Honey loves to run to the reading corner and pick a book (or ten!). And Miss M's friends love reading them to her which is so lovely to see. One of the new books she noticed this term was The Cow That Laid an Egg. All three of us really enjoyed it and in the back of my mind a quick lunch began to take shape!

I've been looking for an excuse to try out our Fred & Friends Chicken Egg Mould. What could be more perfect? And our favourite Lunch Punch cutter got a work out too. (The cow was part of a limited edition set, sadly no longer available). I trimmed baby cow's legs and set to with some FooDoodlers to turn it into a chick.

I also (poorly) attempted to recreate Marjorie's (the cow) expression when she found out she'd laid an egg. A few food picks complete the scene.

While we're here I found this cow lunch amongst my un-blogged photos. Let's pretend these were the sides I sent along with the feature lunch since I can't actually remember what I did send that day! All in our Nude Food Movers.

Mummy Didn't Make it to the Grocer

Some weeks you just have one-of-those-days all week, right? It's not just me?

This Easy lunch was thrown together from what we had on hand. Some grapes and blueberries, wafer biscuits, yoghurt (in a Sinchies pouch and drink bottle sleeve under the sandwich) and Lunch Punch Vegemite sandwich with the crusts included as a field for the cow to graze in ;-)

Are you ready for school to go back next week?

Happy Birthday Lunch

After the excitement of her party (details in this previous post) I packed Miss M a simple (and quick!) lunch for her actual birthday.

Strawberries and yoghurt for afternoon tea.  Vegemite sandwich cut with Sweet Lunch Punch, decorated with sprinkles and a cheese '5'.

Served in our Nude Food Movers Mini Rubbish Free Lunchbox. I love the limited edition brights colours that were available at the beginning of the year.
I forgot to take the milk poppers to the party in the park and found this Yaknog label which I couldn't resist.

Details of my tools & toys can be found on this page.
