Divided Container

Another Flashback Friday. I can't remember when I took the photos of this snack box, but I think it was this year.

This one I remember, and not just because of the giant Take & Toss container of whipped cream :-)
This was my 'take a plate' for Mothers' Group last year. Picklets with a selection of jams & butter. I love going to take-a-plate gatherings on Monday because it generally means I make a giant batch of pancakes for breakfast Sunday, ensuring there's enough batter to make picklets. And then I have the excuse to whip some fresh cream too!

Back to the box! This one comes with some cute silicon cups which I tend not to use, but if you were wanting to super-small your serve you quite easily could.

This box had a sliced cheese stick, jam sandwich cut with a Cube It and a dried fruit medley. I bought the round ones in the hope I could convince Miss M they were lollies (like Jubes) but she wouldn't buy it. Or eat them :-(

These photos are from a little more recently (since my computer went kaput). Apologies they don't look as pretty.
Miss M working on her knife skills helping me pack Honey a snack box for the day. I normally pack lunches for Miss M at night, but more often than not I forget about packing Honey and/or I a snack box if we need it until the morning.
Grapes, cheese Cube-It sandwich and strawberries.

The Devil Made Me Do It Slice

I mentioned last week that I'd share the recipe for my 'The Devil Made Me Do It' slice. Problem is, the more I think about it, the less of a recipe there actually is.

You see I was cleaning out & reorganizing my pantry when I noticed a fair amount of out of, and almost out of date 'naughty' things. So I decided to use them all up in one go.

I started by using up some rice flour to make a shortbread (recipe on the box).
Then I enlisted some help. . .

. . .and made a sort of rocky road with white chocolate (which was heat effected so didn't melt very well), marshmallows, pretzel sticks, gummies, and some peanut butter.
Well, I think that's all I put in that layer.
Then I melted some milk chocolate to spread on top before sprinkling with candy eyes, popping candy and candy covered choc drops.
Certainly not the neatest of finishes, but still.
What do you think? What do you do with goodies you find lurking in your pantry?
Like I said - the Devil made me do it ;-)

Big Ted's Big Adventure Bento

Miss M had her class photo day last week so I had to make her a special lunch. She loves taking photos and animals so it's no wonder that she's a fan of Big Ted's Big Adventure on ABC Kids. And the perfect excuse to play with my new CuteZCute Cuddle Pals!

This plum jam sandwich with Nutella details was made from the crust of the bread. Not quite Big Ted yellow, but close enough. He's holding his camera made from off cuts and remembered to wear his hat out at the zoo.

He took lots of photos of the animals playing with the strawberries and yoghurt as well as the ones in the cheese, pepperoni and cherry tomato pen.

And a nice serve of milk to round everything out. All ready to pop into our Nude Food Movers.

Hop, Box and a Who. . .

Are you ready for the latest incarnation of The Doctor? I must admit I tend to get a little lost each time he changes faces. It always seems to happen around a busy time in life.

I hope you aren't too busy for a Blog Hop. Some fellow Bento Bloggers and I have put together a little something special to celebrate the season launch of Doctor Who. Won't you join us? There's a T.A.R.D.I.S. at the end of this post that will transport you to the next blog.

I'm so muddled at the moment that I put together this snack box and forgot one very important component. . .can you tell?

Big Blue Box? Check!

I bought this little biscuit tin for myself as a birthday present last year thinking it made a perfect sized Mummy box. Turns out I was right.

Nod to previous incarnation? Check!

Well, actually it's a not to his former companion Amy Pond and her smiley face apples.

Did you know Karen Gillan who played Amy appeared in the episode Fires of Pompeii back in 2008? I didn't until I came across this clip. So I decided to give her apple some Soothsayer 'eyes'.

Nod to new incarnation? Check!

The new face of The Doctor Peter Capaldi also appeared in this episode. So while I making biscuits/cookies I made a few roman numerals for him. Why 4 5 6? Well, he also appeared in the Torchwood Children of Earth saga which has recently been re-run here in Australia.

So what was I missing after all that?

That's right - the other 'Big Blue Box'. I was looking at some Dr Who graphics when I came across the rather familiar image of the 'DW T.A.R.D.I.S'. It struck me that it looked somewhat like a 13, so I made some modifications and adorned a slice of cheese with it. After all Mr Capaldi will be wearing The Doctor's 13th face, even though he is the 12th.

Now board the T.A.R.D.I.S. below to hop over to Robot Squirrel & the Monkeys for more Whovian fun. Keep hopping until you return here.

Cute Z Pig

Quickie today as I continue to try and nut out some technical difficulties (love my lap top, really I do - I just love it more when it works ^-^)

Using a CuteZCute cutter and a little piggy pick with a small roll of ham for a tail.

Have you met the latest member for the CuteZCute family? I will be posting some lunches with them soon, promise :-)

Soup Maker Strawberry Swirl

I had planned to post this last week but technology has been against me. Remember the strawberry soup/sauce I shared in my Kambrook Soup Simple review? Here's one of my favourite uses for it to date.

Basic vanilla sponge, some with added white chocolate bits, some with delicious strawberry sauce, all kindly added by Miss M.
Simply swirled and baked.
What do you think?

Yum!

Strawberry Swirl Yoghurt

Do you remember my Strawberry Soup/Sauce I shared a few weeks ago? Here's one of my re-purposes for it.
Miss M had a playdate with a kindy friend and as always requested matching lunches.
So here we have some ham & cheese pocket sandwiches with sprinkle hearts. Strawberries and grapes, and some vanilla yoghurt with strawberry sauce swirl.
Both served in Easy Lunchboxes with mini dippers (found at affiliate Bento USA here). Spoons from affiliate Little Bento World.

[UPDATE: Easy Lunchboxes will be available exclusively in Australia through Little Bento World! Here's your link- WooHoo!!!]
And this is the mummy box. Cube-It sandwich for Honey and some fruit as well as a mini dipper of swirled yoghurt. The rest though? Stay tuned, I will post my 'the Devil Made Me Do It' slice soon :-)

Happy Soup

A bonus post for you this week - Happy Soup! It's really quite simple. . .

Take some sad vegetables, add a little water or your favourite stock, and any herbs/spices that take your fancy. Toss it all in your Kambrook Soup Simple and select your favourite soup style. I chose 'chunky' so I had the option to blend later, but I quite liked the texture of each of the vegetables as they were.

Honey and I had this for lunch twice this week. A great way to add a few extra vegetables to your diet.

What's your favourite vegetable soup?
