Turbo Lunch

I must admit I'm a little chuffed with how this lunch turned out! We took Miss M (& Honey) to see Turbo the other day and had a great time. What better excuse to create a snail lunch?

We have a pizza scroll snail & a cheerio snail in a garden of lettuce, asparagus, broccoli and tomatoes.

(NB some 'over-ripe' tomatoes as well as 'big red' make an appearance, just like in the movie ^-^)

You can see the Pinspiration for the cheerio snail here.

I knew I wanted to add something else to the box, but didn't figure out what until I was packing Miss M's snack which included some cheese flowers. Here it all is squished in together :-)

I was really looking forward to making some cute little sushi-sandwich snails like these, but Miss M requested a 'Guy' sandwich instead. 'How on earth am I going to do that?' I thought, then I remembered Robot Squirrel & the Monkeys cheese art tutorial and the light bulb lit.

I used the plane cut out from the sandwich to create the car which I coloured with FooDoodlers and attached sultana tyres. Guy's hair, eyebrows and beard are filled in with nori.

To make my snail scrolls, thaw some puff pastry and spread 2/3 with pizza sauce.

Sprinkle with cheese

Then cut to desired thickness. I did quarters then decided they were too 'tall' and cut them in half again.

Roll from the saucy end (yeah, I said it) and twist the 'head' a little. For the super large scrolls on the right I rolled 4 lengths (half a sheet) of pastry into each scroll.

Bake at 200 degrees C for around 20 minutes until golden.

Details of my tools & toys can be found on this page.
