Snugglepot and Cuddlepie Bento

Ever since I participated in Wendolonia's 3 tools Bento Challenge I've been wanting to make a May Gibbs Bento! I thought a kiwi fruit with leaf picks for eyes would be the perfect Banksia Man. . . well, in my head it worked ;-)

At least my Snugglepot & Cuddlepie worked out OK. The shrubbery behind them in FooDoodlers didn't quite work though. I think I need some new pens.
Some strawberry to complete the gumnuts and cheese chunks topped with mini slices worked a treat for Snugglepot & Cuddlepie.

And some cheese cute like a gumleaf and again FooDoodlers for the title. All the cheese art was done using this technique I learned from Robot Squirrel & the Monkeys.
I included a little note 'Beware the Banksia Man'  on top of our yoghurt container in the hopes that Miss M would know what the Kiwi fruit was supposed to be.
Mind you, the only time she's seen one is in this board book. I am ashamed to say I've never read the tale.
What do you think. . if you squint. . . ?

Hand Sandwich

When Miss M asked for a 'hand' sandwich I thought she asked for ham. 'No, no Mummy. A *hand* sandwich'.

Thankfully I had a hand cookie cutter :-)

Happy Flashback Friday everyone!

4 Ingredient Banana Oat Biscuits

There are so many recipes out there for these little babies and do you think I can remember which one I used as inspiration? And now I can't even remember the measurements I used! I do however remember the ingredients, all four of them ;-)
This is a great one for little chefs to have a go at. I think this was 1 banana, 1 cup of quick cook oats, 2 good tablespoons of peanut butter, and a good helping of choc chips. It's not an exact science, so a few taste tests along the way are always welcome.
I used an ice-cream scoop to pop these onto some greaseproof paper, then baked at 180 until they were well done (about 20 minutes).

Daiso Goodies

Are you enjoying your holidays? We're having a great time, and although I'd love to say I got to go shopping for these goodies myself, alas I had to send my personal shopper (thanks Sis!)
Some cutlery for next year (Miss M will have to take her own cutlery to prep)

More cutlery for next year.

Gorgeous little heart picks - I'm thinking Valentine's already!

And a little music to brighten your day :-)

I actually requested these thinking I would use them for Honey's Teddy Bear Picnic birthday party, but had too many ideas, and not enough time :-)

Oh the wonders of a growing collection!

Treasure Map Pizza

Arrrr ye' ready for International Talk Like a Pirate Day this Friday? If ye're lookin' fer some inspARRation ye can check out me swag here.

Miss M isn't in Kindy that day, but we've recently had Pirate Pete visit, so I made the most of that to get all my pirate-y-ness out :-)

I'm not sure where I first saw the idea of a treasure map pizza, but it's possibly this one from Little Nummies.
Miss M helped to plan how we should make this pizza treasure map. Helping to lay out the snow pea & asparagus 'palm tree', position the carrot 'x-marks-the-spot' and letting me put my giant mushroom 'skull' in the corner. She also helped to lay out the olive 'dashes' on the map to show the way to the treasure.

After making the first pizza I wasn't sure how far it would go with the 22 children in Miss M's class as well as teachers. Seeing as the pizza bases came in packs of two I thought that the perfect excuse to make another. This one wasn't quite so well planned. . .

Some pineapple 'gold treasure', and a ham ship navigate the seas where giant turtles live! I've wanted to try making one of Lunchbox Dad's broccoli & snow pea turtles since I saw his Finding Nemo lunch last year. Nowhere near as cute as his, but it did the job :-)

Again Miss M helped lay the olives on our treasure maps.

I couldn't resist carrying the theme through for her lunch that day. This jam sandwich was made on one slice multigrain, one slice white bread and cut with a Lunch Punch puzzle cutter. The top layer of white bread off-cuts removed, but I left the multigrain as a border and to help keep the sandwich in place in our Nude Food Movers. Decorated with FooDoodlers.

Porcupine Helmet Sandwich

A what now?

If you're familiar with Magpies and spring, fair chances are you're also familiar with the swooping and diving and running for cover that comes with them. We discovered on our walk/scoot home from Kindy recently that we have quite a vindictive Maggie living along the way. Poor Miss M got the fright of her life that first swoop!

That afternoon Mr Loving helped us attach some zip ties to her helmet (as is the fashion during swooping season) and her 'porcupine hat' came to be.

Not long after I was lucky enough to win the international prize for Eclectic Lamb's 3 year Blogiversary giveaway! Checking out my new toys, and discussing the what each of the cookie cutters could be, Miss M said the hedgehog looked like a porcupine 'Like my porcupine hat!'. So I knew I had to make her a lunch with it :-)
Apparently I got the scooter wrong though. It's supposed to have two wheels at the front, not just one. So Miss M helped me to get it right the next night. She's still not satisfied with her image 'jumping' instead of scooting, but she let it slip this time, tee hee hee.

August on Instagram

How did I miss this last week? Probably the same way I missed Honey's 12 month immunisations. Fear not, beloved reader. Both shall be remedied this week!
