World Nutella Day

Did you know that the 5th of February is World Nutella Day? I had plans of creating something spectacular but with the weather we've had here, and battling the first of the summer cold/flus my inspiration left me :-(

Instead, I'd like to share one of my favourite simple ways to enjoy Nutella. . . with a spoon!

I was lucky enough to be invited on a trip to Paris in 2011 and must admit that one of my favourite memories was drooling over the giant tubs of Nutella the street vendors used when creating their crepes. Best flavour combination? In my opinion banana, Nutella and your choice of coconut or toasted almonds (I change my mind frequently depending on my mood as to which I really prefer)

Seeing as I neglected to take any photos of my attempt to recreate this at home (which really lacked in comparison), we'll have to settle for another use - cake icing/frosting!

Quite simply, ice your cake with pure Nutella - easy as that! I prefer to use a plain vanilla sponge so you can really focus on the Nutella, but I'm sure this would work just as well on many cake flavours ;-)

If you're feeling the need for some crunch & colour, add a few sprinkles. I can't believe it took me over 30 years to discover if you dip your cake into the sprinkles rather than scatter the sprinkles over the top you get a much yummier looking result :-)

Happy World Nutella Day!
